Upgrading/Alternative Entry |

If students need to undertake further study to qualify for entry to the course they wish to study at QUT, the range of options include:
An important part of decision-making is whether the upgrading course allows for credit to be awarded for part of the first choice course. The online Credit Precedents List provides a list of QUT units together with equivalent units offered in other courses at QUT and elsewhere. QUT will consider OP ineligible students who have completed at least 20 semester units of Authority, Authority-registered and Vocational Education and Training (VET) subjects as reported on their Senior Certificate. Ranks are calculated in late December by QTAC on the basis of a weighted grade average using the best 20 semester units (VET subjects each count as one semester unit). Ranks for interstate school leavers are allocated automatically by QTAC based on the applicant's senior studies. QUT also accepts completed International Baccalaureate and Australian Christian Education (ACE) studies. QUT also operates an Alternative Entry Scheme that recognises the valuable role of life and work experience in preparing prospective students for success at university. Substantial details of work experience and/or a Personal Competencies Statement must accompany QTAC applications. Alternative Entry applicants are encouraged to sit for the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). Detailed information on admission to QUT is contained in Real Options.
